
The Leigh High School Ice Hockey team is part of the Hockey Club at LHS that competes in the Sharks High School Hockey League at Solar4America Ice. The club is an authorized club sport at Leigh High School and welcomes hockey players of all high school ages and genders.
The Leigh High School Roller Hockey team is part of the Hockey Club at LHS that competes at The Plex in the High School League. The club is an authorized club sport at Leigh High School and welcomes hockey players of all high school ages and genders.
Head Ice Coach Marcel Mallais:
Coach Marcel is USA Hockey Level 4 certified. He has coached youth hockey for 7 years. Marcel started playing hockey in Canada at the age of 3. After college he moved to California and was surprised to find a vibrant hockey community in San Jose where he was able to continue to play hockey on multiple teams, This will be Marcel's first season coaching Leigh Ice Hockey.
Assistant Coach Andy DeMaria:
Coach Andy has been playing roller hockey since Rollin ice opened in the mid 1990s at the Fairgrounds, and started playing ice about 3 years ago. He has coached/assistant coached roller hockey for UMS and Leigh HS for the past 4 years with Ed Stiitt and Brian Cipresse. I have also coached rec league at Rollin Ice during that time. I am currently a CEP I certified coach with USA Hockey. In addition to hockey I have coached girls rec soccer for the past 7 years with LGUSL and AYSO.
Assistant Coach Brian Cipresse:
Brian has been coaching youth sports for over ten years and will be starting his 4th year coaching with Leigh Ice Hockey and Leigh Roller Hockey this 2020-2021 season. It is his first season as Head Coach. Prior to Leigh, Brian was head coach of Union Middle School's three Roller Hockey Teams and assistant coach with UMS Roller Hockey before that. Brian is a USA Hockey level 2 certified coach and enjoys playing on multiple ice hockey teams. Brian exhibits visible enthusiasm for team sports and encourages each Leigh player to strive for excellence.

Practices are held at Solor4America Sharks Ice (San Jose). Our season runs October-March. The regular practice schedule will be posted soon. Check here for updates!

Assistant Coach Ed Stitt:
Coach Ed has coached dozens of rec. level roller hockey teams at Rollin Ice. He held various coaching positions for the Tsunami '02 travel roller hockey team during their Atom (8u) and Mite (10u) seasons. Ed became head coach for their Squirt (12u) season. Ed then was an assistant coach for a Santa Clara Blackhawks PeeWee ice hockey team. Ed also coached Union Roller Hockey for 6 years. Ed will be starting his eighth year as a coach for Leigh Roller Hockey in the fall and will be starting his 4rd year assisting with the Leigh Longhorn Ice Hockey team. Ed is a USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach, and an active roller hockey and ice hockey player.
Leigh Roller Hockey participates in the High School League at The Plex. This league runs three seasons: fall, winter and spring. Each season typically has a 10 week round robin format followed by playoffs. All teams make the playoffs, and seeding is based on standings at the end of the round robin season. Our practices are at The Plex, schedule forthcoming.
